Let’s face it, we need help in living every day life. Circumstances come at us at an alarming rate. Things that we have no control over. We need strength in order to help comfort ourselves, our family and those around us on a daily basis. I love Psalms 46 when it says that God is an “ever present help in time of trouble.” Some days “trouble” is my middle name. As an Executive Director of a large church, I am the “go-to” guy for church-wide or specific problems. I fix stuff. People, machines, facilities, schedules, you name it … if it has an inkling of trouble to it … it comes to me. But, I love it. It’s what God equipped me to do. I can’t do it alone. God helps me in ways that I probably am not even aware. God is my strength and my song! I hope these bible verses are a source of strength for you today.
The Lord is my strength and my song. He is my savior.
He gives strength to those who grow tired and increases the strength of those who are weak.
My sheep listen to my voice; I know them, and they follow me. I give them eternal life, and they shall never perish; no one can snatch them out of my hand.
Search for the Lord and his strength. Always seek his presence. Psalm 105:4
I will lie down and sleep in peace, for you alone, O LORD, make me dwell in safety.
I love you, O LORD, my strength. The LORD is my rock, my fortress and my deliverer; my God is my rock, in whom I take refuge. He is my shield and the horn of my salvation, my stronghold.
The LORD is my light and my salvation whom shall I fear? The LORD is the stronghold of my life of whom shall I be afraid?
The LORD is close to the brokenhearted and saves those who are crushed in spirit.
Refuge and Strength
God is our refuge and strength, an ever-present help in trouble. Therefore we will not fear, though the earth give way and the mountains fall into the heart of the sea, though its waters roar and foam and the mountains quake with their surging.
“Do not let your hearts be troubled. Trust in God; trust also in me. In my Father’s house are many rooms; if it were not so, I would have told you. I am going there to prepare a place for you. And if I go and prepare a place for you, I will come back and take you to be with me that you also may be where I am.
“If you love me, you will obey what I command. And I will ask the Father, and he will give you another Counselor to be with you forever the Spirit of truth. The world cannot accept him, because it neither sees him nor knows him. But you know him, for he lives with you and will be in you. I will not leave you as orphans; I will come to you.
“I have told you these things, so that in me you may have peace. In this world you will have trouble. But take heart! I have overcome the world.”
For I am convinced that neither death nor life, neither angels nor demons, neither the present nor the future, nor any powers, neither height nor depth, nor anything else in all creation, will be able to separate us from the love of God that is in Christ Jesus our Lord.
2 Corinthians 1:3-4
Praise be to the God and Father of our Lord Jesus Christ, the Father of compassion and the God of all comfort, who comforts us in all our troubles, so that we can comfort those in any trouble with the comfort we ourselves have received from God.
