new start bible versesI’m so glad there are “do overs” aren’t you? At least that’s the way I read and understand the bible. God gives us the grace that when we have expended our strength, we can call, “new start“. Don’t get me wrong, there are consequences to bad choices something we all have to live with, but because of God’s unchanging grace, we can claim a new start. A new start means not living your future fixed on the rear view mirror of life. Sure, everyone wants to look back and stare at the pile of burning rubble we sometimes leave in our wake, but the spectacular is not yet seen. We have no idea what a new start will bring, but there is a great promise that says “we have no idea what God has prepared for those who love him–“.
Philippians 3:13-14
New International Version (NIV)
Brothers and sisters, I do not consider myself yet to have taken hold of it. But one thing I do: Forgetting what is behind and straining toward what is ahead, I press on toward the goal to win the prize for which God has called me heavenward in Christ Jesus.

Claim your New Start

2 Corinthians 5:17
New International Version (NIV)
Therefore, if anyone is in Christ, the new creation has come: The old has gone, the new is here!

A new start sometimes requires a re-boot

Just like a computer that may be running a little slow, or has acquired a lot of “history”. That needs to be purged so that it will run more efficiently.

1 Corinthians 2:9
New International Version (NIV)
However, as it is written: What no eye has seen, what no ear has heard,
and what no human mind has conceived” the things God has prepared for those who love him—

Ready, Set, Go, New Start

Isaiah 43:19
New International Version (NIV)
See, I am doing a new thing! Now it springs up; do you not perceive it? I am making a way in the wilderness and streams in the wasteland.

Thanks for the article. The beauty of the gospel is that we can receive a brand new start. One section of Scripture that I think speaks to a brand new start is Nicodemus’s conversation with Jesus. He basically asks, can I really have a brand new start? Of course, in response to that question, Jesus shares the gospel!
