Bible Verses about Temptation
Bible Verses about temptation
Everyone one on this journey of the Christian life will face temptation. Temptation is the desire to perform an action that one may enjoy immediately or in the short term but will probably later regret for various reasons: legal, social, psychological (including feeling guilt), health-related, economic, etc. In the context of religion, temptation is the inclination to sin. Temptation also describes the coaxing or inducing a person into committing such an act, by manipulation or otherwise of curiosity, desire or fear of loss.
Short term gratification with long term consequences. We can overcome temptation. Here are just a few of the bible verses that are highlighted in my bible to help me when temptation arises.
1 Corinthians 10:13
New International Version (NIV)
No temptation has overtaken you except what is common to mankind. And God is faithful; he will not let you be tempted beyond what you can bear. But when you are tempted, he will also provide a way out so that you can endure it.
Watch and pray so that you will not fall into temptation
Matthew 26:41

On reaching the place, he said to them, “Pray that you will not fall into temptation.”
1 Timothy 6:9

Those who want to get rich fall into temptation and a trap and into many foolish and harmful desires that plunge people into ruin and destruction.
Hebrews 2:18

For because he himself has suffered when tempted, he is able to help those who are being tempted.
Hebrews 4:15
New International Version (NIV)
For we do not have a high priest who is unable to empathize with our weaknesses, but we have one who has been tempted in every way, just as we are—yet he did not sin.
James 4:7
