good bible versesGood Bible Verses

Good Bible Verses, is sort of a misleading title … but as you will see these bible verses, or most of them, have to do with the word ‘good’. Good works, good gifts, good things, doing good all have their source in the nature and chracter of God. When God was creating, He looked at what He had done and proclaimed … it is very good. I think sometimes we all get in such a hurry and our impatiece runs past our good sense in dealing with people. When God created us, he thought it was good … but I confess I’m not thinking about God’s creation when someone cuts me off on the highway or has no regard for their choices and how it effects others. I’m usually thinking … not good. It gives me hope that good thinking and good choices lead to good things. Be blessed today as we focus on good bible verses.

Genesis 1:31
New International Version (NIV)
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

Matthew 10:42
New Life Version (NLV)
For sure, I tell you, anyone who gives a cup of cold water to one of these little ones because he follows Me, will not lose his reward.”

Good Bible Verses have at their foundation the basic chracter of God

And we know that in all things God works for the good of those who love him, who[a] have been called according to his purpose.

New International Version (NIV)
Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.

do great exploitsExploits: An act or deed, especially a brilliant or heroic one.

Do Great Exploits

Daniel 11:32
King James Version (KJV)
And such as do wickedly against the covenant shall he corrupt by flatteries: but the people that do know their God shall be strong, and do exploits.

There are times in my life that I embraced the unexpected change. It was exciting and romantic. Whatever was out there, it was a new day to be conquered. Then events happen in a life that were so unexpected that I could not really see God in them. They were hurtful and devastating. I began to follow a routine of safety. Just do your job and keep your mouth shut, I thought, and live out the rest of your days. Get comfortable, I thought, settle down, be secure.

These are my days. But God always has a way of showing back up in strange and unusual ways. Yesterday, while visiting a church service and listening to a very good worship set, I was unsettled by the unexpected. Spontaneous baptism? The prophetic word rang out. When you prophesy, whoever you are, man, woman, teen, child … it matters not. When you put yourself out there and speak what you feel. God has the opportunity to make those words reality in the physical sight of others. So people were getting up, standing in a line to be baptized. Immersion in this case. Pretty gutsy, seeing how they had no change of clothes … they pretty much were going to be obedient and wet.

What exploits does God have for you?

Was that an exploit? A brilliant, and heroic act? In my heart, I say it was. We do live in a day that just being obedient to God … is a heroic act. As the morning continued, the pastor spoke on this passage in Daniel. The really cool thing about God is this. He is no respecter of persons. In other words, if you are a woman — you can preach, if you are teen — you can convince others of your faith, if you are old — you can still be put “into the action” … in military terms it’s called “into the sh__”. (Sorry, God speaks to me in maybe different terms than He does you.) Yesterday, was re-up day. You only get a few of those “in your face” kind of opportunities in life. This was one of them for me.

What does it mean? What exploits are out there for me? Who knows? The attitude on my end is … I’m ready. If you want me to go deep with this … all of my life I have been a platform person, worship leader, preacher, pastor … I lived for that. Will that return? I don’t know and really don’t care … whatever. I really think my exploit has to do with being a “watchman on the wall” a protector. It’s funny because my family crest has a “griffin” at the top of it. I actually have a tattoo of that on my upper arm. The griffin in ancient studies is the protector or guardian of the divine. I don’t really know what all of this means other than … I love where I am right now. So many directions available, just waiting on the command.

help me godHelp Me, God

Do you know how many times people go to google and type in “help me God“. Over 55 million times each month people go to google looking for advice, bible verses, anything when staring at situations in their lives.

There are times in life or even within your everyday life when we need help. Help with fear, pain, depression or temptation. These are times when we need some reassuring words or guidance. Here are a few bible verses when you need help in a specific area of living life. Sometimes “help me God” is a statement of faith and sometimes when you cry “help me God” it’s a prayer of desperation. Either way … don’t stop praying, living, giving … God will help.

Isaiah 41:10
English Standard Version (ESV)
fear not, for I am with you; be not dismayed, for I am your God;
I will strengthen you, I will help you, I will uphold you with my righteous right hand.

I will Help You!

Job 29:11-13
English Standard Version (ESV)
When the ear heard, it called me blessed, and when the eye saw, it approved, because I delivered the poor who cried for help, and the fatherless who had none to help him. The blessing of him who was about to perish came upon me, and I caused the widow’s heart to sing for joy.
Fear

1 John 4:18
English Standard Version (ESV)
There is no fear in love, but perfect love casts out fear. For fear has to do with punishment, and whoever fears has not been perfected in love.

Philippians 4:6
English Standard Version (ESV)
do not be anxious about anything, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God.

Hebrews 13:5-7
English Standard Version (ESV)
Keep your life free from love of money, and be content with what you have, for he has said, “I will never leave you nor forsake you.” So we can confidently say, “The Lord is my helper; I will not fear; what can man do to me?” Remember your leaders, those who spoke to you the word of God. Consider the outcome of their way of life, and imitate their faith.

2 Timothy 1:7
English Standard Version (ESV)
for God gave us a spirit not of fear but of power and love and self-control.

Anxiety

Humble yourselves, therefore, under the mighty hand of God so that at the proper time he may exalt you, 7 casting all your anxieties on him, because he cares for you.

Philippians 1:6-7
English Standard Version (ESV)
And I am sure of this, that he who began a good work in you will bring it to completion at the day of Jesus Christ. It is right for me to feel this way about you all, because I hold you in my heart, for you are all partakers with me of grace, both in my imprisonment and in the defense and confirmation of the gospel.

Help Me God

Discouraged

2 Corinthians 12:9
English Standard Version (ESV)
But he said to me, “My grace is sufficient for you, for my power is made perfect in weakness.” Therefore I will boast all the more gladly of my weaknesses, so that the power of Christ may rest upon me.

Romans 8:26
English Standard Version (ESV)
Likewise the Spirit helps us in our weakness. For we do not know what to pray for as we ought, but the Spirit himself intercedes for us with groanings too deep for words.

Romans 8:31
English Standard Version (ESV)
What then shall we say to these things? If God is for us, who can be[a] against us?

Protection

Deuteronomy 31:8
English Standard Version (ESV)
It is the Lord who goes before you. He will be with you; he will not leave you or forsake you. Do not fear or be dismayed.”
Psalm 91:1-7
English Standard Version (ESV)
He who dwells in the shelter of the Most High will abide in the shadow of the Almighty. I will say to the Lord, “My refuge and my fortress, my God, in whom I trust.” For he will deliver you from the snare of the fowler and from the deadly pestilence. He will cover you with his pinions, and under his wings you will find refuge; his faithfulness is a shield and buckler. You will not fear the terror of the night, nor the arrow that flies by day, nor the pestilence that stalks in darkness, nor the destruction that wastes at noonday. A thousand may fall at your side, ten thousand at your right hand, but it will not come near you.

2 Timothy 4:18
English Standard Version (ESV)
The Lord will rescue me from every evil deed and bring me safely into his heavenly kingdom. To him be the glory forever and ever. Amen.

God will help

1 Peter 3:18
English Standard Version (ESV)
For Christ also suffered[a] once for sins, the righteous for the unrighteous, that he might bring us to God, being put to death in the flesh but made alive in the spirit,

Is your church aware of the growing trend of providing greater church security on church property?

bible verses for athletesBible Verses for Athletes

There are a number of bible verses that deal with athletes and their terminology. A lot of these verses use running as a vivid illustration and make us think of the early Olympic games. Those games began as early at 776 B.C. These bible verses for athletes are motivational and give us insight into training, competition, and being prepared. I am sure that christian athletes world wide turn to the Bible for their comfort and preparation for athletic competition and inspiration. Sometimes you only have to go as far as your TV to see that athletes draw strength from the bible. The 49er quarterback, Colin Kaepernick, draws strength from these bible verses tattooed on himself.
Deuteronomy 31:6
New International Version (NIV)
Be strong and courageous. Do not be afraid or terrified because of them, for the Lord your God goes with you; he will never leave you nor forsake you.”

Psalm 37:3-4
New International Version (NIV)
Trust in the Lord and do good; dwell in the land and enjoy safe pasture.
Take delight in the Lord, and he will give you the desires of your heart.

Psalm 37:23-24
New International Version (NIV)
The Lord makes firm the steps of the one who delights in him; though he may stumble, he will not fall, for the Lord upholds him with his hand.

Matthew 19:26
New International Version (NIV)
Jesus looked at them and said, “With man this is impossible, but with God all things are possible.”

Athletes worldwide draw strength from the Bible

Colossians 3:23-24
New International Version (NIV)
Whatever you do, work at it with all your heart, as working for the Lord, not for human masters, since you know that you will receive an inheritance from the Lord as a reward. It is the Lord Christ you are serving.

1 Timothy 4:12
New International Version (NIV)
Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in conduct, in love, in faith and in purity.

Hebrews 12:11
New International Version (NIV)
No discipline seems pleasant at the time, but painful. Later on, however, it produces a harvest of righteousness and peace for those who have been trained by it.

Athletes and Tattoos, Mixed emotions by many

I might add that athletes, for years, have been making a public statement of their faith by getting tattoos of bible verses on their body. It sparks controversy in the Christian community, but to me I think it is an awesome testimony to mark your body for things that really matter in your life.

famous bible versesThe Super Bowl and John 3:16

In 2011 an ad was submitted to Fox Sports for the Super Bowl, it was rejected because it contained or really focussed on a Christian Bible Verse.

“Fox Broadcasting Company does not accept advertising from religious organizations for the purpose of advancing particular beliefs or practices,” Fox Sports said, explaining the reason for rejecting the ad.

The John 3:16 bible verse has shown up in more televised sporting events. John 3:16 came into the pop culture view in the late 1970s and early 1980s at sporting events, when a man named Rollen Stewart would don a rainbow colored afro wig and a John 3:16 T-shirt. He was especially good at getting himself in front of the cameras at sporting and big cultural events, including the royal wedding of Prince Charles and Lady Diana.

Stewart grew increasingly fanatical about his crusade. In 1992 he took a maid hostage with a loaded gun at a Los Angeles hotel, demanding a national press conference to proclaim his new message that the end of the world was near.

When quarterback Tim Tebow threw an 80-yard touchdown pass Sunday to secure an overtime victory for his Denver Broncos over the heavily favored Pittsburgh Steelers, some saw a biblical connection.

The completion gave Tebow, an outspoken evangelical Christian whose penchant for last-minute heroics have given him a reputation as a miracle worker, 316 passing yards for the game. His ten completions averaged 31.6 yards a piece.

Those figures inspired plenty of conversation and debate about a connection some saw to one of the most famous verses in the Bible, John 3:16.

The New Testament verse is held up by Christians around the globe because it neatly summarizes some key points of Christianity: “For God so loved the world that he gave his one and only son, that whosoever believes in him would not perish but have eternal life.” (NIV) via belief blog

Seeing John 3:16 at the Super Bowl or really any other sporting event probably does not have the same impact that it once did. The message has not changed. God, still, loves the world and gave his Son.

So today as many, many people watch the Super Bowl, I for one will be watching it only for the commercials.

jesus was moved with compassionMoved with Compassion

The great quote from Henry Ward Beecher, Compassion cures more sin than Condemnation, has it’s very foundation in the example of Christ. When he was moved with compassion, things happened. I have seen other worthwhile quotes on compassion, one in particular I like, “Compassion without action is a wasted emotion”. Below are several bible verses about compassion. We are about to move into the lent season and part of my study is based on compassion. Look out of for others today. Be kind and have compassion.

He has compassion on all he has made

Zechariah 7:9
New International Version (NIV)
“This is what the Lord Almighty said: ‘Administer true justice; show mercy and compassion to one another.

Mark 6:34
New International Version (NIV)
When Jesus landed and saw a large crowd, he had compassion on them, because they were like sheep without a shepherd. So he began teaching them many things.

He had compassion on them

Philippians 2:1
New International Version (NIV)
Therefore if you have any encouragement from being united with Christ, if any comfort from his love, if any common sharing in the Spirit, if any tenderness and compassion,

Matthew 5:9
English Standard Version (ESV)
“Blessed are the peacemakers, for they shall be called sons of God.

1 Peter 3:8
New International Version (NIV)
Finally, all of you, be like-minded, be sympathetic, love one another, be compassionate and humble.

don't worry bible verseDon’t Worry Bible Verse

One of the most popular verses in the bible that Jesus uses to comfort the disciples. Life can throw us a curve ball every now and then and if you are not prepared, worry can be your uninvited guest for a while. I use this “don’t worry” bible verse when I need to be reminded that there are a lot of other people in similar or worse situations than me. Sometimes as I read this scripture, I can hear a voice in my head prompting me saying, “don’t worry” things will work out, it will be ok. You might want to put it on your don’t worry list!

Do not let your heart be troubled. You believe in God; Believe also in me. — John 14:1

Don’t Worry

bible verses little thingsLittle things

It’s no secret that big things make the news. In life though, it’s the little things that matter. A kind word, an open door, and a smile can go a long way. Seems these days a lot of people I know are training for a marathon or a triathlon, a big feat, right? A feeling of accomplishment. They aren’t looking to win, they just want to finish. Training for this giant enduro is actually made up of a lot of little runs. You don’t just get up one morning and decide to run a marathon. Thus, it’s the little things that matter. To runners, it may be their shoes, or their socks, or their watch, you get what I mean. The little things usually allow the big things to happen. Learn to embrace the little things in life. If you are looking for recognition, well, you might be disappointed. The little things are for yourself. An accomplishment of a job well done. Knowing that you did all you could in a specific situation. Don’t discount the little things in your day. It’s brings hope to any situation.

Matthew 6:33
New International Version (NIV)
But seek first his kingdom and his righteousness, and all these things will be given to you as well.

Proverbs 15:16
New Life Version (NLV)
A little with the fear of the Lord is better than great riches with trouble.

Despise not the little things

Zechariah 4:10
New International Version (NIV)
“Who dares despise the day of small things, since the seven eyes of the Lord that range throughout the earth will rejoice when they see the chosen capstone in the hand of Zerubbabel?”

Romans 8:31
New International Version (NIV)
What, then, shall we say in response to these things? If God is for us, who can be against us?

Matthew 25:21
New International Version (NIV)
“His master replied, ‘Well done, good and faithful servant! You have been faithful with a few things; I will put you in charge of many things. Come and share your master’s happiness!’

Luke 1:37
New International Version (NIV)
For no word from God will ever fail.”

it’s the little things that matter
