new-beginning-bible-versesMy boss asked me the other day, “What is your New Year’s Resolution?” Eeek, sorry I don’t have one. Well mine is, blah, blah, blah. My mind trailed off as his excitement escalated. Honestly, I have a tough enough time each day to resolve not to strangle someone. Don’t get me wrong, I need to change stuff about me. Lose a few pounds, eat healthy, bench press more, yada, yada. The biggest thing I need to work on is changing the way I think.

I heard this statement today and I pondered it. “Rejection is God’s Protection.” Yeah, sure … that’s a cool way of side stepping some ill feelings about yourself. Then I thought, why not?  What can I do to shift perception of things that happen to me? I would love to “feel” like God was protecting me from a situational rejection. Somewhere I read, “try to find a positive” in the negative. I guess that would work, but that’s just a work around, I think. You still feel like you have a giant “REJECTION” stamped on your forehead. Someone else suggested, “find some humor in the situation”.  If I could do that I think I would have enough material for a stand up comedy routine.

Actually, for me, my biggest struggle is that I feel that I am “owed” that thing that I am being rejected. Maybe, just maybe it’s all a pride thing. If I lowered my expectation, I might be able to handle the word “no”. Then a new beginning would be something I could look forward to and not death sentence to my ego.

I know well meaning people are quick to pop out a platitude and press out a smile when darkness shrouds your plans, but honestly … it’s just not easy. If it were we would all own a plane and jet around speaking to thousands.

Resolve this ‘day’ to let God help you change the way you think.

Start by doing what’s necessary; then do what’s possible; and suddenly you are doing the impossible. -Saint Francis of Assisi

We must always change, renew, rejuvenate ourselves, otherwise we harden. -Johann Wolfgang von Goethe

bible verses about frankincense

Bible Verses about Frankincense

Frankincense has been used in religious ceremonies and, for medicinal purposes for centuries.

It was once considered so precious that treasuries were built to house and protect this valuable commodity. The Roman Empire once coveted the Frankincense trade so much that Augustus Caesar ordered 10,000 Roman troops to invade the region in order to control Frankincense production. However, the troops never made it through the desert and had to turn back. Frankincense was of great value then and now as the challenges of sourcing Frankincense from it’s indigenous home continue to make it one of the most expensive and sought after essential oils.

There is a very strong spiritual connection with this very valuable essential oil. It is also has several other strong medicinal purposes like anxiety, infections, inflammation, epilepsy, skin conditions, stress relief and cancer.

Testimonies after testimonies abound concerning the essential oils mention in the bible and none more valuable than frankincense.

Exodus 30:34

Leviticus 2:2
He shall bring it to Aaron’s sons, the priests, one of whom shall take from it his handful of fine flour and oil with all the frankincense. And the priest shall burn it as a memorial on the altar, an offering made by fire, a sweet aroma to the Lord.

Leviticus 2:15
And you shall put oil on it, and lay frankincense on it. It is a grain offering.

Leviticus 2:16
Then the priest shall burn the memorial portion: part of its beaten grain and part of its oil, with all the frankincense, as an offering made by fire to the Lord.

Leviticus 5:11
‘But if he is not able to bring two turtledoves or two young pigeons, then he who sinned shall bring for his offering one-tenth of an ephah of fine flour as a sin offering. He shall put no oil on it, nor shall he put frankincense on it, for it is a sin offering.

Leviticus 6:15
He shall take from it his handful of the fine flour of the grain offering, with its oil, and all the frankincense which is on the grain offering, and shall burn it on the altar for a sweet aroma, as a memorial to the Lord.

And you shall put pure frankincense on each row, that it may be on the bread for a memorial, an offering made by fire to the Lord.
Numbers 5:15
then the man shall bring his wife to the priest. He shall bring the offering required for her, one-tenth of an ephah of barley meal; he shall pour no oil on it and put no frankincense on it, because it is a grain offering of jealousy, an offering for remembering, for bringing iniquity to remembrance.

Nehemiah 13:5
And he had prepared for him a large room, where previously they had stored the grain offerings, the frankincense, the articles, the tithes of grain, the new wine and oil, which were commanded to be given to the Levites and singers and gatekeepers, and the offerings for the priests.

god loves you John 3:16

God so loved the world that he gave his son that whoever believes in him will be saved.

I love this graphic. Whether it is a natural occurrence or if it was manipulated … I really don’t care. It’s a great reminder to keep looking up, even on your dark days. There are very few constants in life one is, God loves me. God loves you too. Even though that sounds trite, the love of God brings we great comfort … on good days and bad.

To fight fear, actBible Verses about Fear

Fear is a great deterrent in life. Fear of failure. Fear of rejection. Fear of others. Fear is known to distort our viewpoint. Basically, Fear is a liar. To fight fear you must first learn to identify it and call it out. Sometimes I do this verbally … saying, I will not fear that … or I will not be afraid of this person. Fighting fear is just like learning to box or defend yourself. Small lessons repeated until muscle takes place. Then stress is put on the fighter to reveal what they remember. Peace I leave you bible verse

There have been so many times that people have prayed for peace. Peace from war. Peace in their hearts. Peace at home. What is peace? Peace, to me, is simply the absence of negative energy and stress. Working in the church for well over 30 years, one would think it would be a less stressful environment. You would be wrong. The larger churches grow the more demand of bigger and better programs, buildings and staff. Some days I just want to stand up and quote Jesus and say … “Peace, be still.” I am certain that my co-workers would laugh and just carry on the business of church. These bible verses about peace have been near and dear to my heart for many, many years. If you are searching for peace in your life today … I hope you will take a few minutes and just let these verses permeate your heart and soul.

More Bible Verses About Peace

The LORD gives strength to his people; the LORD blesses his people with peace.

“Come to me, all you who are weary and burdened, and I will give you rest. Take my yoke upon you and learn from me, for I am gentle and humble in heart, and you will find rest for your souls. For my yoke is easy and my burden is light.”

Peace can help find you rest for your soul

John 14:27
Peace I leave with you; my peace I give you. I do not give to you as the world gives. Do not let your hearts be troubled and do not be afraid.

For the kingdom of God is not a matter of eating and drinking, but of righteousness, peace and joy in the Holy Spirit, because anyone who serves Christ in this way is pleasing to God and approved by men. Let us therefore make every effort to do what leads to peace and to mutual edification.

Are you a man or woman of peace?

good bible versesGood Bible Verses

Good Bible Verses, is sort of a misleading title … but as you will see these bible verses, or most of them, have to do with the word ‘good’. Good works, good gifts, good things, doing good all have their source in the nature and chracter of God. When God was creating, He looked at what He had done and proclaimed … it is very good. I think sometimes we all get in such a hurry and our impatiece runs past our good sense in dealing with people. When God created us, he thought it was good … but I confess I’m not thinking about God’s creation when someone cuts me off on the highway or has no regard for their choices and how it effects others. I’m usually thinking … not good. It gives me hope that good thinking and good choices lead to good things. Be blessed today as we focus on good bible verses.

Genesis 1:31
New International Version (NIV)
God saw all that he had made, and it was very good.

Matthew 10:42

Good Bible Verses have at their foundation the basic chracter of God

being confident of this, that he who began a good work in you will carry it on to completion until the day of Christ Jesus.

Every good and perfect gift is from above, coming down from the Father of the heavenly lights, who does not change like shifting shadows.
